Morning Routines

I’m gonna focus tonight’s article on the first things that every girl (or guy, I don’t judge) should accomplish in the mornings. From what I have seen, I can tell that mornings are the most important time of the day to most people. I, however, like to sleep.. A lot.. and I try to get as much as possible, but sometimes it’s not always a good thing for my body. When you sleep, your entire body goes through so many different processes that when you wake up, it’s like you’ve been placed into a completely new skin. Now, I’m definitely not here to bore you with a science lesson, but I want to make sure I get across the importance of keeping up with a healthy morning routine.

For those of you who struggle with bad skin (you know who you are, no need to be ashamed), you might have been dealing with the problem for over ten years now. I, personally, started puberty at a very young age and began experiencing hormones that most of the girls my age hadn’t even learned about yet. I was diagnosed with chronic cystic acne when I was in 7th grade, but I actually started experiencing all of the hormonal changes when I was in fifth grade. As an eleven year old, seeing these new developments on a once perfect face was heart breaking and I couldn’t understand why it was happening to me when all of the other girls my age had flawless, unscathed complexions. It was very difficult for me to deal with and I still remember to this day a little fifth grade boy calling me names because I was “different” than the others. I am now twenty years old and I struggled with this problem for so many years, and sometimes still have issues. It gave me very low confidence during high school and to this day I sometimes still worry about the complexion of my face. I tell you this little depressing snidbit of my life in order to move on to the importance of making sure your body (especially your face) is cleaned every single morning. Like I said earlier, your body goes through so many changes during the night and the most important thing you can do for your skin in the mornings is just make sure that you give it a good deep cleansing to literally wash away the night. I didn’t realize the power of this until just over a year ago, but when I started washing and moisturizing my face every single morning, I noticed such a difference in the tonality and overall texture of my skin. This is also a good tip for you lucky girls who do have flawless complexions because it can prevent you from ever having any problems as well as being able to wake up faster by the rush of running water.

Now obviously, not every girl has a chronic acne problem or has to wash their face thoroughly every morning because of the fear of an imperfect complexion, but every girl does have to eat (and if you don’t agree, I’m sorry, cuz bacon is freakin delicious..). The second most important thing that I personally have experienced the importance of is eating breakfast. I know you’ve heard the saying “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” well, it really is. The people that have said this to you weren’t just doing it to waste your time or their oxygen, because there are actual scientific statistics that prove that a woman who eats a healthy and wholesome breakfast every morning compared to a woman that does not has a significantly better chance at experiencing her day with a better mood, being able to handle more things that are thrown at her, and also just being able to stay completely alert through anything she may have going on that day. I personally know that there is such a significant difference in the overall productivity of my day when I eat breakfast and when I do not, and I’m sure my boyfriend and coworkers would concur. Eating a meal in the morning not only helps you conquer the day in a more kick butt way, but it also helps with a woman’s metabolism, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a faster metabolism?

The last thing that I can think of that is crucial for a morning routine (and honestly should be applied throughout the entire day) is the importance of hydration. Every morning all I want to do is roll out of bed and make it to whatever obligation I have on a cup of coffee. Coffee’s great, don’t get me wrong, it actually has many great benefits such as being a natural laxative as well as adding just the right amount of caffeine into your daily diet, however, there is something that will wake you up faster and keep you energized longer and it’s called.. Drum Roll Please.. WATER. I know, right? The most natural substance on planet earth is all you need to start your day off right. It hydrates your entire body (duh, it’s water..) and gives your body the tools it needs to not only make it through the day, but actually enjoy it. Also, back to my first point, it’s been proven that women who drink more water on a daily basis have had better skin complexions all across the board.

I’m not a magician or anything, so I can’t promise that each and every one of you will benefit significantly from this post or that it will change your life completely, but I can promise you that incorporating these easy, but super important, steps into your morning routine cannot hurt, it can only help. Your face will be clean and refreshed, your stomach will be full, and your hydration levels will be so high that whatever you have to face that day will seem like a breeze. Trust me and try it if you feel like your mornings are usually the worst part of your day and experience the significant difference of a few small changes.
