Horrible Fashion Trends
Now that you have heard what I have to say about Crocs, today we are going to talk about another fashion trend that really grinds my gears.
Today’s atrocity is yet again another type of footwear, and sadly this trend is not even so bad itself, it is mostly the context in which people choose to wear them that gives them a bad name, to me at least.
Number 4: Uggs
Uggs are sheepskin boots made with a fleece lining on the inside, and were first created in Australia in the early 1900’s. Rumor has it, that Frank Mortel of Mortels Sheepskin Factory named the boots, Uggs, after his wife called the first pair of boots he made ugly. See right there…even one of the first manufacturers thought the shoes were ugly so there is your first clue there people!
In the 60’s the boots became popular with Australian surfers who would wear them to keep their feet warm after they came out of the cold waters of the surf. Sadly, come the 90’s these…things…made their way to America were people began wearing them not to keep their feet warm in colder weather, but all day, every day, with every kind of outfit because for some reason they thought it was a good look.
If you live up in the mountains and it’s snowy and cold and horrible up there, by all means wear Uggs! But I go bezerk when I see people wearing these things in the middle of the summer, with little itty bitty shorts and a tank top on. That is as stupid to me as wearing a bikini with a parka…
No, Britney, it is not cute to put together a barely-there shirt, daisy dukes and these horrible shoes! Flip-flops, ballet flats, sneakers, wedges, I would even rather see you running around Walmart barefoot before I see you in Uggs!
Would you put together a tux and flip flops or a wedding dress and sneakers or even pajamas and heels? No. Why? Because they don’t go together and you just end up looking stupid. And no, I don’t care that celebrities do it all the time. They look dumb when they do it too.
If you are going to wear shorts, please, do the world a favor and pair the shorts with some sandals or flip-flops. If you are going to wear Uggs, it better be with a coat and a scarf because it’s 30 degrees out wherever you are!
