1. DIY Pore Strips – You know those things you can buy from Biore that are over $10 for the pack that extract crud from your pores? I’m going to teach you how to make your own for less than $5!

What You Will Need:

  • 1 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin
  • 1 1/2 – 2 Tablespoons of milk
  • Microwave safe container to mix ingredients
  • Measuring spoons
  • Something to apply substance to face (plastic knife, clean make up brush, etc.)

What You Will Have to Do:

  • Step 1:Wash your face with whatever face wash you would normally use in the shower. I personally use African Black Soap if you’re looking more for the organic feel, but anything you’re currently using will be adequate.
  • Step 2: Measure out the unflavored gelatin and pour it into the container you are going to mix all of the ingredients in. *UNFLAVORED is super important unless you want a red face when you’re done because you just really like cherry jello..*
  • Step 3: Measure out the milk necessary for this project. I personally use Skim Milk because it has the least amount of yucky extra stuff in it, but it doesn’t really matter which one you choose.
  • Step 4: Mix the two ingredients together until you create a sort of chunky consistency.
  • Step 5: Microwave the concoction for about 15 seconds to allow the ingredients to combine efficiently under the heat and become creamier.
  • Step 6: Take the newly heated concoction and apply it immediately to your face. The immediacy is key because it dries quickly and you want it to go on smoothly.
  • Step 7: Use the knife, make up brush, or whatever you decided to use as an applicator to begin applying the concoction to your problematic areas. You can apply it to as many or as few places as you would like on your face, but remember, act fast!
  • Step 8: Go turn on How I Met Your Mother or whatever fits your fancy, because you’re going to have to wait a little while.
  • Step 9: After 20 minutes of looking like a weirdo, go find a sink and begin to start peeling the homemade strips off of your face. It’s kinda gross, but the results are phenomenal.
  • Step 10: Moisturize your face after all of the residue has been taken off and enjoy your new beautiful complexion.

2. DIY Black Mascara – In my opinion, no outfit is complete until a nice pair of earrings are put in and thick mascara is put on. Mascara can be pretty pricey if you want the good stuff, however, so I have found a way to make your own for super cheap!

What You Will Need:

What You Will Have to Do:

  • Step 1: Combine coconut oil, aloe vera gel, and grated bees wax in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Step 2: Stir until bees wax is completely melted.
  • Step 3: Open 1 – 2 capsules of activated charcoal and pour into oil mixture. Stir until completely mixed in.
  • Step 4: Remove from heat.
  • Step 5: Pour into a small plastic bag, pushing the mixture down to one corner. Then, cut a very small hole in the opposite corner of the bag.
  • Step 6: Fold the corner with the cut hole until you have a small tip that you can push into the empty mascara tube.
  • Step 7: Keep the small-hole-end securely in the tube. Begin pressing the mascara mixture toward the tube.
  • Step 8: Place the inner cap in place and then twist the wand on tightly.
