Nicole Scherzinger Opens Up About #EatingDisorder
Most of you may know Nicole Scherzinger as part of the group The Pussycat Dolls. They were known for being amazing singers who were amazing dancers, but more importantly… had amazing bodies.
You’d think that working out, eating right, and looking as good as she does would have been effortless, but recently she graced the cover of British Cosmopolitan and opened up about her past struggles with bulimia. She revealed that her worst struggles with bulimia were in her early 20s and she hid it so well that no one in the group or her family knew about it. She stated that “It is such a horrible paralyzing disease and it was such a dark time for me,” and that it “robs you of living your life.”
Years later, she is finally willing to open about about it to share her story and reach others who may be feeling the same way.
Bulimia affects one and a half million people in the Unites States alone, both men and women. What is so scary about bulimia is that it can be so hard to notice in others or hard for you to even control if you have it. Bulimia often does not lead to extreme weight lost, many bulimics are average weight, overweight, or slightly overweight and the large age range for people who are most affected by bulimia is alarming: 18-59.
Love your body and treat it right. If you want to achieve weight loss, do it by eating well balanced meals and moderate exercise. Do not let the pressures of what you see on TV, in the movies, or in magazines pressure you into feeling as if you are not good enough, because you are all beautiful. Bulimia and other eating disorders are all about control, wanting to take control of the one thing in your live that is all yours, your body. However, take control of your body the right way and love yourself for making that choice.
